In the year of 1999, an Azorean woman and a northern Portuense man left their hometowns to begin their academically jouney at Minho University located at Guimarães, city in Portugal. This is where Nieta Atelier was founded, where interior design and architecture services where provided for many years. Following their endless search for patterns and forms, comes up the need to create their own brand, a brand that would stand out from the conventional and emerged from a social and environmental conscience. Since they were located in the biggest industrial center of the country, they realized that they could benefit from a wide range of raw materials which were considered "waste". So a brand "Nieta Atelier ®" is born, which uses only natural, organic, recycled and waste materials. Our goal it's to minimize to the maximum all forms of pollution resulting from textile production, thus contributing to the conservation of the ecosystem. Focused to reinterpret waste and following the "Upcycling • Handmade • Portugal" concept, combining design with different cultures. recreating new techniques made in the looms and manual works already forgotten by many people, reactivating the work to many craftsmen. Its main objective is to create unique pieces with designs, produced manually, in Portugal and almost free of energy consumption. It's already well represented by stores all over the country and has already won very demanding international markets.
